Since the Henricus Citie Militia was founded in 1995 a major goal has been to prepare for the 2011 Henricus Quadra-Centennial celebration. Because we have planned for this event for 15 years much of the hard work has been done.
The militia has developed a solid core of members to interpret all facets of the early 17th century militia (musketeers, targeteers, artillery, and river commerce) as well as colonial crafts and trades.
The militia will focus on the following training areas:
- Developing characters for core militia members;
- Interpreting the history of Henricus (especially for new members);
- Military training (musketry, artillery, targeteer) as well as weapons safety, park regulations training;
- 17th century navigation and equipment;
- Dramatic presentation rehearsal and training.
